The Production Specialist is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating production activities within a department.  This person ensures a safe work environment is maintained while meeting departmental production targets.  This person will work with a team of supervisors and department heads and other staff on a daily basis to deliver production and improvement objectives. 

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ensure safety and production standards are met.  Confer with Supervisors and employees to discuss work procedures, improvements and solutions to operational problems.

 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:  Monitor and control staffing levels for lines that are operating.  Work with staff and employees to ensure safety and efficiency while meeting line targets and departmental objectives on a daily basis.  Utilize the layered audit process (LAP) to monitor hourly performance and drive improvement in processes.  Work individually and with the production team to discover areas to improve and then provide the coordination to accomplish the improvement.  Work with the manufacturing analyst and department head to detail causes for production variances and plans for improvement. 

 

SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:  Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Has the ability to work a flexible schedule.    Position requires good communication and technical skills along with being detail oriented.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience or combination of relevant education and experience.
    • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Production Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering or related field, preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous relevant manufacturing experience, a plus.
  • Professional experience within packaging/food products industry, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, preferred.
  • Experience leading others, a plus.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
