Responsibilities

  • Perform proper installation, overhaul, operation, periodic inspections, and preventative maintenance on plant packaging and process equipment to insure efficient operation without direct or constant supervision and with minimum downtime.
  • Set up production lines and perform changeovers as required.
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance activities, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, plumbing, construction, roof repair, etc.
  • Safely and effectively operate shop fabrication power tools, i.e.: drill press, grinders, milling machine and lathe, etc. Perform sheet metal fabrication, shear and brake.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematic prints of plant equipment and lay outs, in order to fabricate, build, and/or revamp equipment with minimal supervision from verbal instruction.
  • Perform routine preventative/proactive maintenance activities on all assigned equipment based on technical requirements.
  • Initiate actions to maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe environment in accordance with established HACCP program requirements and general cleanliness standards.
  • Perform other tasks as required by lead or supervisory personnel within the expectations of efficient plant operations and the ability and skill level of a maintenance mechanic “B”.
  • Follow plant wide and equipment safety rules/procedures.

Qualifications

  • Be able to perform all duties and meet all qualifications of a Maintenance Mechanic “C”.
  • Completion of a one year maintenance certification program with a minimum of three years relative experience: or completion of a two year technical college degree program related to mechanical industrial maintenance.
  • Have basic knowledge of electric AC/DC power and controls to provide support in line installation, trouble shooting and repair. Be able to change and install minor electrical components.
  • Be able to do welding of all kinds, i.e.: MIG, wire-feed, overhead, vertical, arc, heliarc, mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum; use cutting and plasma torch.
  • Be able to use precision measuring tools to perform precision work in aligning sprockets and pulleys and setting up or modifying equipment.
  • Complete and demonstrate retention and application from training programs on new and existing equipment, and/or technology.
  • Be self-motivated and demonstrate skill, initiative and judgment to make and accept responsibility for decisions.
  • Properly use CMMS program (MP2) for maintenance related activities and research.
  • Familiar with assigned equipment technical manuals operating and safety procedures and periodic maintenance requirements.
