  • Possess excellent skill in the installation, overhaul, operation, and preventative maintenance of plant equipment to minimize downtime and insure efficient operation without direct or constant supervision. This includes, but is not limited to equipment such as conveyor/shaker systems, corn/pea/lima bean processing equipment, blanchers, color sorters, poly vertical form/fill/seal machines, metal detectors, pumps/motors, filters, air/hydraulic systems, forklifts, case sealers, etc.
  • Assist in setting up production lines and change over lines as required to help daily production run efficiently.
  • Perform a variety of building and grounds maintenance activities as required.
  • Be able to detect defects in equipment before major breakdowns occur.
  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematic prints of plant equipment and lay outs, in order to fabricate, build, and/or revamp equipment without supervision from verbal instruction. Must also be able to prepare basic equipment and schematic prints as necessary to assist in equipment installations or corrections.
  • Be able and willing to effectively train other maintenance mechanics.
  • Complete training programs, on new and existing equipment, and/or technology as required to maintain maintenance technician status.
  • Be able to do welding of all kinds i.e.: TIG, MIG, stick, gas, wire-feed, overhead, vertical arc and heliarc, mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum; use cutting and plasma torch.
  • Be able to operate safely and effectively shop power tools, i.e.: drill press, grinders, milling machine and lathe, etc. Perform sheet metal fabrication, shear and brake.
  • Have basic knowledge of electric AC/DC power and controls to provide support in line installation and repair. Be able to change, install, repair and maintain motors.
  • Have a good working knowledge of electronics and thus be able to trouble shoot problems on current electronic equipment.
  • Be able to use precision tools i.e.: micrometers, calipers, etc, perform precision work in aligning sprockets and pulleys and setting up or modifying equipment.
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe environment.
  • Perform other tasks as required by lead personnel or the supervisor within the expectations of efficient plant operations and the ability and skill level of a maintenance technician.



  • Be able to operate a lift truck.
  • Be able to stoop, bend, twist and stand for long periods of time and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Possess necessary hand tools.
  • Be able to use mathematics, such as geometry and trigonometry, to determine areas, angles and lengths of hopper pieces, framework bracing, square-ness of pieces, sheet metal layout work, etc.
  • Be aware of all safety rules/procedures and be willing to follow them
