The Storeroom Purchaser will be required to work closely with the maintenance team, operations management, engineering, quality, finance and various suppliers on a daily basis in order to operate and maintain the Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) storeroom and associated database to maximize production and facility availability. This individual is responsible for the purchasing of parts and supplies for maintenance, operations and capital projects for the facility.



Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow plant safety and environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the implementation of reliability based maintenance MRO elements in alignment with the corporate standards.
  • Develop and maintain storeroom reports and key performance indicators and drive continuous improvement of the storeroom function
  • Reviews all requisitions for compliance with company policies concerning authority, specifications, approvals, authorized source of funds, etc.
  • Review all purchasing documents to insure compliance to corporate directives and to protect company in warranty, insurance and performance considerations.
  • Interprets and administers purchasing procedures or activities in accordance with company policies.
  • Responsibilities associated with this position for Infor EAM include processing requisitions, generating purchase and change orders, vendor set-ups and maintenance, administers expedite programs and efforts and resolving invoicing issues.
  • Places telephone orders (when necessary) from EAM requisitions and expedite deliveries in order to provide accurate pricing and delivery time to requisitioners who are managing both budgets and manpower planning efforts.
  • Timely computer receipt, location and issuance of repair parts and maintenance of required files while focusing on providing required service for in plant customers.


  • To minimize storeroom inventory by working with maintenance to remove “no usage” codes where possible and to ensure adequate supply is provided by maintaining correct minimums and economical order quantities.
  • Coordinates the sales or return of rejected, surplus, obsolete, and scrap materials as well as those items being sent out for repair. Issues, logs and distributes required Shipper documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • To maximize storeroom space requirement by fully utilizing storage bins, providing proper labeling of parts and providing quarterly inventory of controlled items.
  • To maintain accurate setup information on all codes and ensure correct origination format for new control items.
  • To provide a “user friendly” storeroom, centralizing parts where possible in a secure, clean and orderly manner.
  • To perform other duties as operations require and as directed by the Maintenance Manager.



  • Minimum of 3 years of MRO storeroom experience, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience, preferred.
  • Food processing experience/ exposure preferred.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, preferred.
  • Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • The following skills are required: Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, problem solving, organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate and follow-up.
  • Solid analytical skills using tools such as statistics, downtime tracking, mechanical history, project planning, etc. to identify opportunity areas.
  • Ability to use innovative approaches to resolve complex problems.
  • Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to source MRO parts and supplies, negotiate pricing and terms
  • Ability to analyze data and information, and to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Ability to work with others to identify opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate at multiple levels both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with a storeroom database or module in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is required and experience with Infor EAM CMMS is preferred.



  • Completion of an Associate’s Degree in Management, Finance or related curriculum or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Formal training / certificate in purchasing is preferred.



This position provides direct supervision to storeroom clerks.



May be asked to travel occasionally for annual corporate meetings and/or training
