    SCOPE OF POSITION:

    Leads sanitation department personnel in sanitation activities to ensure sanitation activities are completed per procedure and to help ensure all products produced meet quality and food safety guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    1. Must be familiar with plant safety rules and guidelines.
    2. Maintain a positive attitude, work well with a team, and have initiative in improving company operations.
    3. Work with maintenance manager to implement changes that have been identified.
    4. Work effectively with other departments.
    5. Train associates on safety and cleaning procedures to comply with written procedures.
    6. Provide support for production lines as needed at direction of Area Manager.
    7. Clean and sanitize production areas and lines as needed.
    8. Keep the plant supply room, employee’s locker rooms and rest rooms clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
    9. Must have equipment clean and ready to run at start of shift or have maintenance working to correct the problem.
    10. Operate all sanitation equipment – including a high-pressure hose and a chemical foaming unit.
    11. Must become familiar with HACCP plan and proficient with vegetable cleaning procedures.
    12. Required to use CIP systems.
    13. Unload dry materials during non-business hours if necessary.
    14. Must be able to bale cardboard.
    15. Perform outside work and provide breaks as necessary.
    16. Maintain plant so that it is third party audit ready at all times.
    17. Assist with changeovers.
    18. Empty trash containers and transfer contents to pick up area.
    19. Obtain operational knowledge of all equipment in the area.
    20. Fill out paperwork for Master Cleaning Schedule.
    21. Assist with inventory of cleaning and chemical supplies and inform manager when getting low.

    Qualifications

    1. Must be a licensed FTO or be able to obtain a license within two weeks.
    2. You will be doing frequent climbing, bending, lifting (up to 75 pounds), turning, twisting, and squatting.
    3. Must possess some mechanical ability.
    4. Must be able to perform maintenance on sanitation equipment.
    5. Required to become a Certified Quality Control Sanitarian within 18 months.
    6. Must have no fear of heights, climb ladders, and be able to work in confined, closed spaces with no issues.
    7. Work with minimal supervision.
    8. You will be required to follow the Birds Eye Foods attendance policy for the Waseca Plant.
    9. Must be willing to obtain training or education if requested by management.
